Schutt Industries, the leading manufacturer of trailers for the U.S. Military, was awarded an $18,652,372.60 delivery order to build 78 trailers and associated spares for the U.S. Army. The M870A4 Semitrailer, Lowbed, Construction Equipment Transporter (SLCET) will be manufactured at the company’s facilities in Clintonville, WI.

The M870A4 SLCET is a low-bed semitrailer with a rated payload of 40 tons (80,000 lbs.) designed to move a host of Engineering Construction Equipment (ECE) and armored vehicles, both tracked and wheeled. The trailer has a folding gooseneck and rear-folding ramps, providing soldiers with front or rear loading capabilities.

The versatile trailer is for tactical purposes and can be used on primary and secondary roads and trails. It can also operate in a host of climates and military environments, and is globally transportable via highway, rail, marine, and air modes.

This latest delivery order is part of a sole source contract for this semitrailer that Schutt was awarded in 2022 after successfully completing testing at the Aberdeen Test Center (ATC). Back to News Listing
